1976 Fterolakka: 5 lifts - 5 runs
2006 Kelaria - Fterolakka: 13 lifts - 18 runs
Parnassos is one of the most attractive mountains in
Greece, densely green, full of Cephallonian fir trees
and of an exceptional physical beauty that charms every
visitor. Each year between December and May, Parnassos
Ski Center, the largest and best organized ski center
in the country, which is located at an altitude of 1600-2.200m,
welcomes winter sports fans at two locations, Kelaria
and Fterolakka.
The construction of Parnassos Ski Center began in 1975
and was completed in 1976, when Fterolakka facilities
began operating. In 1981, the construction of Kelaria
facilities was completed, whereas in 1987-1988, the
linking lift between Fterolakka and Kelaria, "Ermis",
was put into operation. In 1993, the first four-seat
aerial lift in Greece, the modern "Iraklis"
was added to Kelaria 1950.
In total, there are 13 lifts available:
Six aerial, six tow lifts and one four-seat telecabin.
Two learner baby-lifts are available for beginners to
assist them in their first skiing or snowboarding attempts.
There are 18 ski runs totalling 22 kilometres. The ski
runs vary between 320 meters to 4 km in length, and
cover all levels, from beginners to advanced skiers
and snowboarders. For adventure seekers there are 12
off-piste "black" routes with deep snow and
lots and lots of adrenaline. The Ski Center is distinguished
for its quality operation and the high standard of safety
with lifts and machinery.
Parnassos Ski Center is very popular with winter sports
fans, as it is located very close to Athens, Lamia and
Patra and its facilities can cater for a large number
of skiers, snowboarders and visitors. There are two
chalet-cafes and a restaurant, ski and snowboard schools,
equipment rental stores as well as a child-care service
with a playground for its young visitors. As of this
year, at Kelaria 1750, a repair and servicing point
for ski and snowboards is operating with latest technology
machines.
Parnassos Ski Center provides medical insurance to
all the skiers, snowboarders and visitors (more…)
